Located 48 km south of the equator in remote central Raja Ampat West Papua, north of the Dampier strait, 109km from Sorong, Papua, Indonesia. In all aspects, Raja4Divers fosters co-operation with the surrounding villages, from the first traditional island blessing ceremony to the daily resort activities, supporting the local economy by buying fresh fish and produce and using local materials at the resort, as well as employing and training many friendly Papuans from the nearby villages. Raja4Divers on Pulau Pef redefines the Raja Ampat diving holiday by offering an authentic Papuan experience, one with nature, without compromising on quality, comfort and service.

Along
a palm fringed beach, the water bungalows are private and extremely
spacious at 128sqm with en-suite indoor/open air private garden
bathroom, large deck with incredible open views and Wi-Fi broadband
internet. The landscape of Pulau Pef consists of mountainous terrain
covered in lush jungle, surrounded by spectacular bays, white sand
beaches, coconut palms, pristine blue water mangroves, hidden lakes,
blue lagoons, limestone ‘mushroom islands, ancient rock art, incredible
fauna and flora and some of the world’s richest reefs in every
direction. The un-paralleled world class diving and snorkelling in the central Raja Ampat, is all about amazing diversity of species and habitats. A myriad of dive sites and snorkelling locations can be found around Pulau Pef, with a large variety of habitats and experiences: lush colourful soft corals and gorgonians, hard coral gardens teeming with life, large schools of fish, superbly fishy reefs, caverns and overhangs, sea grass beds, pristine blue water mangroves, world war II wrecks, adrenalin filled drift dives, walls and slopes, giant Manta rays, wobbegong sharks, endemic walking sharks, macro critters, dolphins and whale sightings and pygmy seahorses as big as a grain of rice. |
The Dive Centre offers Nitrox free of charge, there are no fuel surcharges for dive trips and the unlimited diving package offers the freedom to dive as much or as little as required. Diving is tailored to suit a fair mix of logistics, weather conditions, and guests’ wishes. Depending on the diving plan, surface intervals are often spent enjoying a picnic on a beautiful beach or exploring mangroves and islands.

Is there Malaria in Papua?
•Yes, Malaria is present in Papua. Although there are surprisingly few mosquitoes on the island itself, it is recommended that you take care and exercise common sense, particularly at dawn and dusk. The liberal use of mosquito repellent is highly recommended, especially when passing through populous areas such as Sorong. Bear in mind that some malarial prophylactics cause adverse reactions in divers e.g. Lariam, so please discuss your travel plans with your doctor/travel clinic.
What day of the week do I need to be in Sorong?
•Saturday - the scheduled boat transfer to the island is at 12:30.
Can I arrive on a different day of the week?
There is a scheduled boat transfer only on Saturdays.

How do I get to Pulau Pef?
•Make your way to Sorong, West Papua.
•Ujung Pandang (Makassar, Sulawesi) is the recommended best hub in Indonesia for direct flights to Sorong.
•Connect to Ujung Pandang from either Singapore or Jakarta.
There are two best recommended options:
•Option A: Arrive into Jakarta on a Friday, over-night at the Airport Hotel and then on Saturday morning at 05:00 connect to Sorong, via Ujung Pandang (Makassar, Sulawesi) using Express Air's XN800 daily flight. (The reservations team will assist you with domestic flight ticket arrangements)
OR
•Option B: Arrive in Singapore on a Friday, connect same day to Ujung Pandang (Makassar) using Garuda Indonesia, over-night in Ujung Pandang, then on Saturday morning at 08:40 connect to Sorong using Express Air's XN800 daily flight.
The scheduled boat transfer to Pulau Pef departs Sorong at 12:30. If Express Air is delayed, the boat departure will be delayed until the guests have arrived.
What about the return?
•All guests will be transferred back to Sorong by boat on Friday afternoon for an overnight stay in Sorong.
•The following morning, Saturday, those on Option A returning to Jakarta would check in at approximately 10am for the Express Air flight to Jakarta via Ujung Pandang, landing at approx. 15:10 in Jakarta.
•Those on Option B returning to Ujung Pandang to fly direct to Singapore, would check in at approximately 5am for the flight to Ujung Pandang which goes via Ambon and lands in Ujung Pandang at approx. 08:40.
How do I book? and what about domestic flights?
•Reservations will assist you with your booking, including the arrangements for domestic flight bookings on Express Air. An average estimated rate is applied to the invoice, as rates tend to fluctuate without notice, and 30 days before departure the E-TICKETS will be sent to you via e-mail. Any difference in the ticket price will be settled at the resort as part of the extra charges invoice.
What happens when I land in Jakarta for Option A?
•You will typically have to overnight in Jakarta, as the flight for Sorong departs early morning. We urge guests to make use of the Airport Hotel Jakarta due to its convenient location upstairs from the arrival gate. Another convenient option is the FM7 hotel also in the vicinity of the airport.
What happens when I land in Ujung Pandang from Singapore, for Option B?
•There is a very convenient Airport transit 'mini hotel' upstairs in the departure lounge on the 2nd floor, called 'Home In'.
•It is open 24hrs for mini stay (6 hours) or longer.
•Currently they do not have a website or e-mail address only Tel: +62 (0)411 3656123

How much Indonesian Rupiah cash should I carry with me?
•Carry a minimum of IDR 2 million in cash (roughly equivalent to USD 240) which should cover for Airport taxes, Marine Park fee, dinner in Sorong. (Please note: this is purely an estimation, and excludes extras like baggage fees, personal expenses, souvenirs and incidentals at the resort).

•Be sure that you have enough IDR (Indonesian Rupiah) cash on you for excess luggage charges and airport taxes. Mention during check-in that you have diving gear, occasionally the rate becomes negotiable. The rates in Indonesia tend to fluctuate without notice and depending on the airline/route/aircraft type rates are typically between IDR 30 000 and IDR 50 000 per kilo. The stipulated luggage allowance per person is between 10 and 20 kg depending on airline/route/aircraft type.
Make provision for approximately IDR100 000 in cash per person, for domestic airport taxes round trip: Jakarta - Ujung Pandang - Sorong return, and approximately IDR 200 000 in cash per person, for international departure airport taxes.
What happens when I land in Ujung Pandang for transit on the way to Sorong?
•If you have taken the Express Air flight from Jakarta, there is a brief transit stop for re-fueling in Ujung Pandang (Makassar) South Sulawesi. The airport is modern by western standards, with a variety of souvenir/snack shops, mini restaurants, and toilets. You will be required to take all your hand luggage with you into the airport building and collect a transit card at the transit counter. Keep an eye on the monitors for any change in departure gate and time in case the announcements are not very clear.
How do I get my domestic airline tickets?

Please avoid crowding around the conveyor belt as porters will already have been assigned your numbered luggage tags to identify and carry your luggage to the waiting vehicle. You will then shuttled to the harbour for the boat transfer to the island. The boat will only wait for the Express Air XN800 flight. You are most welcome to make alternative flight arrangements, but should you not make it for the 12:30 transfer, you would then have to arrange a private charter at your own cost and claim back from your travel insurance. (Please note: a one way boat transfer can be in the region of USD850)
