Kasawari Lembeh Resort is located near the seaport town of Bitung which is a 90 minutes drive from Manado, the capital city of North Sulawesi. North Sulawesi, with its predominantly Christian population, is on the northwestern side of Indonesia, close to the Philippines and bordered by the Celebes Sea.

Diving
At Kasawari Lembeh Resort we have 5 scheduled boat departures per day
1st departure is at 07:30 am
2nd departure is at 10.30 am
3rd departure is at 02.30 pm
4th departure is at 05:00 pm dusk dive (Mandarin fish dive)
5th departure is at 06:00 pm night dive
Free jetty self guided dive is available during 10:00am to 05:00pm for those purchased 4 nights or more package. All diving must end at no later than 07:30pm

* Currently Mandarin Dive is only available only on Wednesday and Saturday as per agreement among Lembeh Dive Operator

Guest can choose to dive in any combination with in their purchased package. And additional dive will be charge as an extra dive not counting free self guided jetty dive. We recommend a minimum of 3mm wetsuit. Hood and glove will also keep you warm. Water temperature is ranging from 26 to 28 C. Average bottom time is around 90 minute so it does get cold toward the end of the dive.

Airport transfer arrival & departure
Kasawari is approximately one and a half hour away from the airport due to road condition and traffic. You should arrive at lease 2 hours before you plain departure For international arrival our representative will be waiting for you at the exit of arrival hall. Please look for Kasawari sign with frog fish logo. For domestic arrival our representative will be waiting for you at the exit of domestic arrival hall. Health
Manado and Lembeh is in the tropical zone therefore malaria and other mosquito related disease can not be discounted for. We suggest you follow your doctor’s advice. Indonesia government has declared North Sulawesi as a non malarial region but. As a standard precaution that should be practice everywhere in the tropic you should always have anti mosquito repellent available and avoid sitting in the dark place. All door and window should always be close at all time. Wearing long pant at night will also help. You should bring you own personal medication, sun screen and light windbreaker for after dive especially night dive.

Travel Documents
Guests must be assure that they have a valid visa ( if required) and passport with a minimum of 6 months’ validity from the date of entry into Indonesia and enough page for visa stamp. Kasawari will not be responsible for any inconveniences and delay. If guests should be refused entry in to Indonesia for any reason whatsoever, Kasawari Lembeh Resort reserves the right to apply the “No-Show” as per our cancellation policy.

Travel and Diving Insurance
Travel and diving Insurance is strongly recommended for all guests staying in Kasawari Lembeh Resort insurance should provide coverage for scuba related injuries, accidents and international evacuations in addition other standard travel and diving insurance policy coverage. Kasawari Lembeh Resort will not take any responsibility whatsoever for any expenses that may be incurred through lack of adequate insurance coverage taken up by the guest. Travel insurances also very useful when there in any unfortunate even such as flight delay of cancellation or health problem.

Booking confirmation
You booking will be confirmed and secure as soon as the deposit has been received by us. Any booking without the deposit will be subject to cancel without any prior notice.

RESORT




The villas and facilities of Kasawari have been carefully laid out in a relatively compact area amid a mature, lush tropical garden, coconut trees and well-manicured lawns. Each villa is less than a minute’s leisurely stroll from the resort’s facilities and dive center.

The eight deluxe and two Kasawari villas, although still retaining the traditional Minahasan look and feel, have been designed and fitted out to provide for high level of comfort and luxury for our guests. Each villa comprises spacious air-conditioned bedroom with handmade terrazzo flooring and an over-sized bathroom that incorporates both indoor and outdoor shower areas with abundant hot-water supply. Individual climate control, comfortable beds and fluffy quilt blanket will ensure that you get a good night’s sleep before next day’s diving.



Between or after dives, guests can relax on the villa’s private wooden deck. Other modern amenities and facilities such as a mini-bar, a safe-deposit box, CD player, hair-dryer, bath robes, ceiling fan, a Wi-Fi zone for internet connection and complimentary coffee and tea making facility have been included to make your stay more comfortable and convenient. In each villa there are also plenty of wardrobe and storage spaces for luggage and personal belongings.

The two Kasawari villas are substantially larger, located close to the dive center right on the waterfront, with their own private decks and gazebos overlooking the tranquility of the Lembeh Strait. The enormous bathroom with its double basin also has an outdoor shower in an enclosed tropical garden.



Kasawari’s infinity-edge swimming pool with built-in jacuzzi and lined with hand-made tiles is right on the seafront overlooking the resort’s jetty and sundeck.

The resort’s restaurant, along with the bar and lounge that also houses a reference library, are located on the upper level of the main building. This allows for an unobstructed view of the picturesque Lembeh Strait. The restaurant has both covered and alfresco dining areas, and in this relaxing atmosphere our chefs serve a range of mouth-watering Asian and Western delicacies to fulfill the needs of our guests, often to the tunes of Kasawari’s staff band!

Meals are served either buffet style or a la carte with a wide range of dishes, including a selection for vegetarian menus. Special dietary requirements can also be catered for.



To satisfy divers’ energy needs, afternoon snacks are served either at the dive center or at the privacy of your villa’s deck. We have also added a massage service offering specialized after-dive massages to help our guests relax and unwind after a hard day’s diving. The massage can be taken either in the privacy of your room or at the massage pavilion.

A small conference room accommodating up to 20 people has just been added to facilitate lectures or seminars on underwater photography. Kasawari Lembeh Resort is a perfect base to enjoy the best of diving that the Lembeh Strait has to offer in a relaxed environment with little touches of luxury.



DIVING




Although finding rare critters is easier in Lembeh than in most other dive destinations, the Lembeh Strait is much more than just the renowned muck-diving capital of the world.

If flying gurnards, mimic octopuses, wunderpuses, a large variety of frogfish including the Straited and Painted varieties, pygmy seahorses, fingered dragonets, juvenile batfish, stonefish, Ambon scorpionfish, devilfish, stargazers, bobtail squid, hairy octopuses, blue-ringed octopuses, a large variety of nudibranchs or even Rhinopias, Weedy Scorpionfish and many other elusive creatures that are on your wish list, our experienced and knowledgeable dive-masters are dedicated to ensuring that your dreams become reality.



At Kasawari, we are lucky to have with us some of Lembeh’s legendary and most experienced dive-masters including Nuswanto Lobbu, Ali and Nonsix. Their combined experience from tens of thousands of dives will help to make your diving with us memorable.

Contrary to general perception, the Lembeh Strait also offers excellent wall, reef, pinnacle and even wreck diving (There are three World War II wrecks in the Strait) with good visibility – in fact all within just a few minutes of Kasawari Lembeh Resort. Densely overgrown reefs and boulders, giant sea fans and soft coral, colorful sponges, schools of jacks, snappers, humphead parrotfish, purple dartfish, leaf scorpionfish, pink squat lobsters and even the remarkable boxer crabs await your discovery. During dusk dives, you will also be able to observe the fascinating mating rituals of mandarinfish.



The more than 30 dive sites of the Lembeh Strait are within easy reached of the centrally located Kasawari Lembeh Resort. The nearest dive site being just a stone throw’s away from our jetty and the furthest 20 minutes. After each dive, guests are whisked back to the resort for a quick shower, a down-load or a change of lens and relax comfortably during the surface interval.



Diving in the Lembeh Strait is year round. The Strait and it’s dive sites is protected by the mountains of North Sulawesi and by the ten-kilometer long Lembeh Island. Conditions for good diving are favorable throughout the year, with water and topside temperatures being cooler between July and September.


DIVE FACILITY

The Dive Center

At Kasawari Lembeh Resort, we have combined the conveniences of liveaboard diving with the comforts of being based on shore. Our diving facility matches the sophistication of the resort. The facilities of Kasawari’s dedicated dive center for pre- and post-diving activities are located right on the waterfront with direct access to our purpose-built jetty. Within the large covered dive center you will find complete facilities including indoor and outdoor showers, separate changing rooms and restrooms, individual dry lockers, gear-up stations and large freshwater rinse tanks for cameras and gear to ensure that your diving experience with us is a memorable and safe one. The first aid and emergency oxygen station are also located within the dive center. Three specially designed 12-meter dive boats with gear-up benches, emergency O2 supply, easy exit ladder and secure camera storage (each carrying a maximum of 6 divers and 2 guides), together with Grade E breathing air from the hyper-filtration system of our filling station, state-of-the-art membrane Nitrox fill system delivering a constant EAN32, convenient and functional jetty for easy and safe dive entries and exits as well as for ease of boarding dive boats – all combine to facilitate ease of diving for our guests.

For underwater photographers, our dive center boasts freshwater rinse tanks complete with water hoses and low-pressure air-guns to accommodate dozens of cameras. The brightly lit and air-conditioned camera room is located just next to the dive center. The room has 21 individual work-stations with shelves and storage spaces. Each work-station has its own charging outlets fitted with universal electrical outlets that remove the hassle and need for adaptors.

Where is Kasawari’s location?
Kasawari Lembeh Resort is located near the seaport town of Bitung which is a 90 minutes drive from Manado, the capital city of North Sulawesi. North Sulawesi, with its predominantly Christian population, is on the northwestern side of Indonesia, close to the Philippines and bordered by the Celebes Sea.

Is there laundry service at Kasawari?
Our housekeeping staff will be happy to do your laundry for you at a reasonable cost.

Are communication systems good at Kasawari?
We have recently installed a mobile phone signal repeater station so the signal is good even inside the villas. Most of the areas, including all the villas, within the resort are also within a Wi-Fi zone for internet connection.

Is there any babysitting service?
With prior notice we can arrange for a babysitter.

Is there any spa or massage service?
We offer an after-dive massage service, which you can enjoy either in the privacy of your villa or at the massage pavilion.

Are there any excursions/tour programs?
Full day excursions with local guides to the Minahasa Highlands - a combination of a scenic and historic tour to Tangkoko National Park for a chance to see rare animals such as the crested black macaque, hornbills and the world’s smallest primate (the Tarsius spectrum) - are available. There is also a 3-hour trip to the local fish market and Bitung town. Trekking and rafting trips can also be arranged upon request.

Do you serve any alcoholic beverages?
We have a small selection of wine, cocktails, spirits and local beer at the bar. There is no corkage charge if you bring your own favorite drink.

Do you accept credit card payment?
We accept Mastercard and Visa.

Do you accept travelers’ cheques?
Sorry, we cannot accept any travelers’ cheques.

Do you accept foreign currency?
We can accept US Dollars, Japanese Yen, Singapore Dollars and Thai Baht, but it is advisable to make payment by credit card or local currency due to uncertainty of and discounted cash exchange rates.

What is the difference between the Kasawari villas and your deluxe villas?
Kasawari Villas are located on the seafront. The bedroom and bathroom totaling 45 sqm are substantially larger than the Deluxe Villa. The villas also have more amenities, large decks and gazebos over-looking the beach and Lembeh Strait. The Deluxe Villas, each a total of 32 sqm and has its own wooden deck, are located within the lush tropical landscape yet still have a view of the Strait. Both types of villas have outdoor showers within walled gardens.
All villas are less than one minute leisurely stroll from all facilities.

What are the facilities and amenities in the villas?
All villas have individual climate control, ceiling fan, hot and cold freshwater, mini-bar, coffee/tea making station, hairdryer, shampoo and liquid soap, bath robes, daily complimentary drinking water, Wi-Fi internet connection and plenty of storage space.


Traveling Information :

Which is the nearest international airport of entry?
Manado Airport (MDC). It is serviced by SilkAir ( a subsidiary of Singapore Airline) from Singapore five times a week. The flight time is approximately three hours.

Can Manado be accessed from other Indonesian cities?
There are daily flights via local carriers from Bali and Jakarta to Manado.

Do I need a visa to enter Indonesia?
Most nationalities will need a visa to enter Indonesia. Please check with the nearest Indonesian Embassy or Consulate. Many nationalities, including US citizens, can apply for visa on arrival. ASEAN citizens do not need a visa to enter Indonesia as a tourist. Please make sure you have at least two empty pages for visa stamp in your passport and the passport is valid for more than 6 months on the date of your arrival in Indonesia.

What is the duty-free allowance for tourists entering Indonesia?
Each traveler can bring in one carton of cigarettes or a reasonable quantity of tobacco/cigars and a bottle of wine or spirit. Customs officials are very strict on this allowance.

Are there any airport taxes and fees?
The international departure tax at MDC is Rupiah 100,000 which must be paid in local currency only.

Can I get porter help at the airport?
Yes. At the Baggage Claim Area porters are available. Expect to pay them Rupiah 10,000 per piece of luggage. There is no luggage trolley available. It is only a few meters from the Baggage Claim Area to the meeting point where our staff awaits your arrival.

How long is the transfer from Manado Airport to Kasawari?
Depending on traffic conditions the transfer takes approximately 90 minutes.

Can I change currency at the resort?
No. We do not offer any foreign currency exchange service. The last place you can change currency is at Manado Airport.

Where can I exchange currency?
It is difficult to exchange currency in Indonesia. Banks and money changers are very particular about the condition of notes, serial numbers, etc. It is best to exchange your cash at Singapore Airport.

Diving Information :

Is there any “best” time for diving in the Lembeh Strait?
You can enjoy diving in the Lembeh Strait all year round. The Strait is protected by the Northern tip of North Sulawesi Island and the 10-km long Lembeh Island, providing good conditions for diving 12 months of the year. From December to April there may be relatively more rainfall but there is no ‘monsoon’ season in the Lembeh area.

What is the average water temperature in Lembeh?
26 to 28 degree Celsius (78F to 82F). Water temperature is usually cooler from July to September.

What kind of wetsuit should I wear?
We recommend at least a 3mm full suit with hood. A 5mm suit will keep you warmer as dive duration can be long.

Is there any shore diving at Kasawari?
Shore diving can be done from Kasawari’s purpose-built jetty.

Is Nitrox available?
Nitrox EAN 32 from our membrane system is available to qualified divers as an extra option. Please see details in the prices section.

Is there any equipment rental at your Dive Center?
We have Oceanic dive equipment and Cochran Dive Computers available for rent. Please advise us of your requirement in advance. There is no camera rental.

Can I take diving certification courses at Kasawari?
No. At Kasawari we emphasize only great diving services for certified divers. We do not offer diving courses.

Can I do any “out-of-hours” diving?
Usual dive time is between 7:30 am and 7:30 pm. Any diving out of these hours will need to be arranged with the dive center and will be subject to additional charges.

Must I always dive with a guide?
It is advisable to dive with our guides as the critters of Lembeh Strait are well camouflaged. Our experienced guides, who are familiar with the habitat and behaviors of the marine life, will help you find these elusive critters.
