Eco Dive In East Bali (3D2N)

Eco Projects and Activities:
Bali Sea Turtle Society – release a baby turtle Karya Segara Coral Reef Restoration Association, in collaboration with Planet Nomadas – adopt and plant a baby coral.

Day 1	SANUR - PADANG BAI (3 Dives) Depart in the morning from Sanur and travel north to Padang Bai where we make our first dives. We love this location because of its beautiful reefs, huge coral plateaus and macro life. Here we take a traditional Indonesian boat – a jukung - into the ocean and make three dives from the boat. As with all of our dives, we choose the dive sites to suit the conditions and experience of our divers. A traditional Indonesian lunch is served on the boat. After a full days diving we travel to Candidasa to our hotel for the night.
Day 2	CANDIDASA (3 Dives) After breakfast we depart early morning on our jukung to the area around Tepekong, Biaha and Mimpang Rocks. Here we can often see pelagics and large schools of fish as well as really healthy coral gardens. Here we will make three drift dives, have lunch at our hotel and enjoy some free time on the beach. After the third dive we will return to the hotel in Candidasa for a second nights stay.
Día 3	AMED, SANUR (1 dive and 2 eco projects) After breakfast we leave Candidasa and make our way back to Sanur for a day of fun, education and marine conservation. First we visit the facilities of Bali Sea Turtle Society in Klungkung, near Padang Bai. This centre promotes the protection and conservation of sea turtles in and around Bali through an education, breeding and releasing program. You will get to learn more about these beautiful creatures and have the chance to release a baby turtle back to its natural environment. After lunch we head back to Sanur for our last dive of the safari and head out on a jukung from Sanur port to Jeladi Willis artificial reef. Planet Nomadas created this reef to help encourage the growth of local coral and marine life, and are collaborating directly with Karya Segara, a community-owned Coral Reef Restoration Association that grows and plants baby corals. During the dive you get the opportunity to contribute to this project by planting your very own baby coral on the reef. Don’t worry if you’ve never done this before, we’ll show you how. After this dive the safari ends and we head back Planet Nomadas to have a beer and share the experience.

What is Eco-diving?
Ecotourism: “Responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people”
The idea of the eco-diving appears from mixing both the world of diving together with the concept of a sustainable tourism. This time you are involved in marine conservation.

How do you become responsible?
Because your actions in your visit to Bali this time will count. You are about to be involved in the world of diving from a different point of view. Part of your dives will be used for scientific and conservation purposes. You will help the promotion of a Marine Protected Area by collecting underwater data or you will release a turtle hatchling to help in the conservation of an endangered species.

How do you improve well-being of local people?
These actions you take are helping and supporting the local community projects and local NGOs that are involved in marine conservation or restoration of the marine environments.

Who are you helping when you participate in an eco-diving safari or dive?
Depending on what part of Bali you want to dive at, you will be helping one of the main marine conservation NGOs present in the area. By taking an eco-safari you will actively promote and support the following initiatives:

• Karya Segara: Coral Reef Restoration and bay seahorse nursery,
  
• Turtle Center Educational Center: Prevents illegal baby turtle egg poaching, recovery center and release,
  
• The Reef Check Organisation: Underwater surveys for Marine Protected Area Promotion,
  
• The Friends of Menjangan: Care and protection of Menjangan island,
  
• GUS Foundation: Environmental education and waste treatment,
  
• Bali Sea Turtle Society: Turtle hatchling nursery and release.
