MSY Seahorse liveaboard has the facilities and services as follows :

At 33 meters long and 8.5 meters wide, the MSY Seahorse is a majestic and spacious vessel, accommodating up to 16 guests attended by 12 crew. With a 380 hp MAN engine, the ship has a cruising speed of 9-12 knots to ensure swift travel. All cabins have individually controlled air - conditioning, private en-suite bathrooms with hot water and plenty of room for storage. The 6 standard double cabins are 12 square meters and have two single 90 X 200 cmts beds, the 2 Deluxe cabins are 13.5 sq. meters, have a 150 x 200 cmts bed, desk, TV and dvd player.

A Typical Day On Board

In general we will offer 4 dives a day, each one of them carefully prepared and checked beforehand, reassuring the right conditions. The day starts with a satisfying breakfast of fresh fruit juices, toast, coffee/tea, cereals and eggs any style to satisfy your morning hunger.

After the first dive we'll serve a full breakfast, and in between eating and diving there will be spare time to relax on the sundeck, read a book, have a chat or check out the mornings digital photos on your laptop.

Lunch is served after the second dive and usually, a quick afternoon siesta. The food-dive-food routine follows after the third dive of the day, afterwhich you can enjoy a lazy late-afternoon on our sundeck, lounging back and soaking in the wonderful landscape with a cup of coffee or tea and some snacks.

Dinner is prepared after the night dive, and the food is excellent. Hailing from a long tradition of big family homecooked meals in Spain, we take pride in offering you a delicious menu with our carefully selected & professional chef on board the Seahorse. Maybe a nice glass of wine, watching the stars and then a well deserved sleep.




DESTINATIONS

KOMODO

Days 1-3	SANGEANG AND BANTA The sometimes forgotten volcanic island of Sangeang is one of many customer's favorite, black sand and fresh water create the perfect habitat for critters, so this is a critters´ fans destination. Sites with black sandy slopes and black corals offer perfect protection for ghost pipe fish, zeno crabs, tozeuma shrimps, etc. The gases from the volcano can be seen mixing with the sand. The union of fresh water and volcanic action has helped to develop colorful coral reefs in contrast with the black sand sea bottom. There are few fans in the area, but the ones that are there are favorite places for the pygmy sea horse to settle. Bontoh is a never-ending critters discovery night dive with tiny baby frog fish, boxer crabs and stargazers among them. Banta offers a bit more of action; the currents here play an important factor to decide where to dive and when and our DM will be monitoring the tide tables and the currents to dive at the best moment, just before or after slack tide. In the right circumstances dives like "GPS" or "Stairway to heaven" are among the best in Indonesia. The hard corals are amazing, and if we consider that the status of health of a reef is determined by its hard corals, this place is Mr. Healthy itself! All kind of fish and the always guaranteed presence of pelagics and reef sharks, make this area a "big fish fans" favorite. K2 with its bommies and sandy bottom gives us a relaxing dive with cuttle fish and turtles sharing territory with mushroom coral pipe fish and pegasus sea moth. At night another collection of stargazers, bobtail squid, and hungry lion fish…will be performing for us.
Days 4-5	NORTH OF KOMODO Stunning hard coral gardens, millions of tropical fish, white tips, friendly turtles, schooling barracudas, jacks and rainbow runners happen to be all living in harmony around Gilli Lawa Laut. Especially between June and September the daily show is observed with good visibility and the necessity of a neck massage after the dive will be a priority, you never know where to look, to many things happening at the same time! Tatawa is a must, the big island has a slope with nice hard corals and is fully decorated with orange soft coral. Expect bumphead parrot fish, cuttle fish and some cruising mantas just to mention a few... The small island of Tatawa gives shelter to lots of sweet lips among its rocks and mantas like to pay us a visit very often, and Batu Bolong completes our journey in the north, a nice wall where encounters with big fish and a couple of big napoleon wrasses will be the highlight.
Day 6-7	SOUTH KOMODO The upwelling of the Indian Ocean brings waters full of nutrients... and cold water! The visibility drops and the water is cold... so why should we go there, you ask? Komodo would not be Komodo without Cannibal Rock, the only place we know of where it is almost impossible to find an empty space to park your pointer. Hard and soft corals, crinoids, black coral… the density of invertebrates per square inch, (meter or whatever) is in the top position already for a record of years and it will stay that way. The menu of the critter's restaurant in Rinca and Padar is endless, including the elusive blue ringed octopus, rhinophias if we are lucky and not to forget the parade of nudibranches! Small life only? The lady bugs may agree, orangutan crabs, hairy squat lobsters will join the group, but some others? Ask the giant frog fish! Or the schooling fish! Or… just simply come and decide for yourself. Still cold? We don't think so!
Day 8	Just across the strait we arrive in Tora Langkoi, our tired eyes after so many critters will appreciate the view of bigger stuff. In German flag and Manta alley we will just relax and enjoy the big flying plankton feeders! This is Komodo, a perfect combination of all kind of diving Indonesia can offer, easy to access and plenty to see. By the way, did we forget to mention the world famous Komodo dragons…where do you think Cannibal Rock got it's name? ; )
Day 9	Fly out of Labuan Bajo

RAJA AMPAT

	RAJA AMPAT Our dive trips to Raja Ampat can be divided into different parts that we will adapt to the personal taste of the group. They all share the same underwater magic and around them one can see some of the best sites in the world, paradise below and above.
	MISOOL Once you arrive in Misool, you are surrounded by one of the most fascinating landscapes you can imagine. Hundreds of small islands all shaped by time into sculptures that only nature can produce. The topside it's out of this world but once your head is under the water you start to understand the concept of variety of colours. The soft corals are unbelievable, all kind of colours and at all depths. It is not unusual to be among a dozen of different ones only a metre or two down!!! In between the islands the currents flow and countless fans have decided to live there and surprise us during every dive, yes!! There are some nudies and lots of pygmies (different species at every possible depth). For sure the amount of tropical colourful fish among those fans and the beautiful colours of the soft corals will stay in our memories for a long time!!
	KRI AREA Close to the Kri resort there is outstanding diving. Probably the corals are less spectacular than in Misool, but that is compensated by the schools of fish like in Sardine reef and Kri corner. These sites are just fabulously filled with fish and pelagic action is always expected. At the west site of Mansuar area mantas can be seen in great numbers.
	PENEMU Dive sites like Melissa's Garden, and Barracuda Point are not to be missed. Here we have a change in scenery. The hard corals are more abundant, and although the fish life is as good as it gets, the barracudas and the wobbegong sharks will be our main goals. In between the island there are great drift dives among gorgonians. We are normally welcomed by a school of friendly bumphead parrot fish and sweetlips.
	WAIGEO For the enthusiastic of macro photography here you will get the best chance of the trip. Pygmies, small crustaceans of all kind, nudies…The night dive under the pier of the pearl farm will be probably the best of the trip. A couple of wobbies sleep there, epaulette sharks come curiously to see us and all the night lovers wake up and expose themselves to our lights. Of course for some others this place means shopping at the pearl farm!!!! Raja Ampat is the centre of the area with the biggest variety of underwater life in the whole world. Other options for you to choose from: going north to Kawe (diving crossing the equator…) and Wayag ( the best top site ever seen by our eyes) or spend some time in Batanta. Among the rare picturesque dragonets, spotting mandarin fish, mimic octopus and blue ringed octopus .This is the only real muck dive area.

RAJA AMPAT - BANDA SEA

	MISOOL Once you arrive in Misool, you are surrounded by one of the most fascinating landscapes you can imagine. Hundreds of small islands all shaped by time into sculptures that only nature can produce. The topside it's out of this world but once your head is under the water you start to understand the concept of variety of colours. The soft corals are unbelievable, all kind of colours and at all depths. It is not unusual to be among a dozen of different ones only a metre or two down!
	AIR TERJUN Between Kaimana and Misool we´ll make another stop. Let us say that the diving, although not disappointing, is not at the same level as the others, but seeing the spectacular waterfall flowing down from the hilly rainforest straight into the sea is a breathtaking view! Lagoons where we can swim in and the possibility of a refreshing waterfall shower? A great sensation! In this are, for the first and only time our main goal will not be underwater one. It will be a pigmy, but not the sea horse kind; we'll be looking for the rarely seen Papua pigmy Kangaroo, which happens to live there!
	KRI AREA Close to the Kri resort there is outstanding diving. Probably the corals are less spectacular than in Misool, but that is compensated by the schools of fish like in Sardine reef and Kri corner. These sites are just fabulously filled with fish and pelagic action is always expected. At the west site of Mansuar area mantas can be seen in great numbers.
	PULAU PISANG Pulau Pisang is situated half way between Misool and Fak Fak and offers a great stop on the way. The reefs are healthy, no bleaching and fish life is abundant, turtles, bump heads, napoleon wrasse and the usual schools of fusiliers that attract trevallies are among their residents and mantas have been spotted on several occasions. We still haven't found a cleaning station, so we are supposing they are migrating without intention of staying permanently... neither are we.
	PULAU SOANGI A few miles sailing from the Bandas we arrive at Pulau Soangi. A nice wall that ends up in a ridge where encounters with pelagics (tunas, rainbow runners, barracudas, trevallies) are always a thrill, as is the presence of a number of hammerheads that we spot regularly. The wall itself is worth the dive, huge barrel sponges, even bigger fans, colours, soft corals on the wall and hard ones in the shallows... immaculate conditions!
	BANDA ISLANDS Obligated stop to go for a cultural tour, the fort, the governor's house, the church, nutmeg plantations, the chance to have a beer on land with the locals... Let's not forget the diving, both Pulau Run and Pulau Ai have pristine clear waters, lovely walls and good fish life, we might go a bit deeper in search of more hammerheads, big fish can be seen here as well, napoleons, schools of black snappers, bumpheads etc. In diving there are a few really unique areas in the world and the dive under the pier of Banda Neira is on of them... The size of the mandarin fish are just out of this world, you might need a wide angle lens! Hey, if you have the perfect shot of the mandarin fish and you are looking for other critters, cockatoo wasp fish, flying gurnards, frog fish, juvenile barramundis, , juvenile emperor angle fish, juvenile sweetlips, juvenile local kids... plenty of chances! We will not miss the hard coral garden under the lava flow of Gunung Api, the impressive volcano that dominates Banda. It erupted in 1988 and now it is a miracle to dive in a garden that has grown in such a short period of time. Batu Kapal, at the entrance of Banda offers some of the bigger fans you will see and it is full of life, a real fishy dive. A bit south is Hatta, consisting of an underwater coral garden with a friendly school of bumpheads and some white tips among its highlights. To finish the area in Banda Besar we will dive the underwater window.
	NUSA LAUT Only a few hours away from Ambon, but so different, it is the best example we know of a village taking care of a reef. The reef is as it was hundreds of years ago. The locals have protected it and now it is an outstanding diving site, many people's favourite dive. The hard corals on the slope are unbeatable, the sandy bottom in the middle offers shelter to sting rays of different sizes, sharks patrolling the depths (white tips and grey reefs) if we are lucky leopard sharks sleeping on the sand, turtles that will pose for us, and because of our Spanish accent you will be able to dive in between a "eschool of YAKS" isn't that unique?? By the way, apart from all the fish, life, the perfect state of the reef and the pelagics approaching and patrolling the slope, there are mangroves in the neighbourhood and we have been lucky enough to dive with a resident dugong (I think Murphy's law is more present here).
	AMBON The diving around the island is great, the wreck in the bay is full of life, pilot whales sometimes come close to the pier, but without a doubt Laha offers the best diving and is an unforgettable experience. Laha could be compared with Lembeh, it is pure muck at its best: mimics, flamboyant cuttlefish, rhinopias, ribbon eels, ambon scorpion fish, frog fish by the dozens, ghost pipe fish... you name it, it is all there, and Murphy is normally not around. Photographers... get ready!

RAJA AMPAT - TRITON BAY

MSY Seahorse is the first dive liveaboard which started operating (2006) the Fakfak route on the Birds Head Seascape, NW of Papua. Since then we have been discovering new dive sites on every voyage in the new area of Fakfak-Triton Bay, and we are ready to share them with you in the comfort and safeties of our vessel.

	TRITON BAY The highlight of the area, the record breaker (a couple of dozens of new species of fish, and another couple of newly found coral species…and we are just starting…), so far the star of the show is the recently found Epaulette shark, the only known shark which walks on its pectoral fins! We have over 20 dive sites; the soft corals are as good as in Misool area. The black coral forest never seems to end and the reefs are boiling with life. All kind of colourfull fish move around, new species of wrasses and gobies fight to introduce themselves to the divers. The topography is varied, bommies, some caves and a few hard corals. In places like Bat Cave and Little Komodo giant groupers are hiding under the rocks. In Little Komodo and 7th Heaven everything can be experienced. If Komodo is a sum up of diving in Indonesia, Little Komodo has it all in only one dive!! Do you want turtles??..Or bump heads?? Or millions of fusiliers?? Wobbegongs? Jacks??... Go for it!!! But Triton Bay is more than that. There are more reasons to come to this remote area: the landscape is gorgeous, ancient paintings decorating caves and the village of Lobo is a friendly place surrounded by a 1000 metres high cliff... Not enough?? What about enjoying the resident pod of pilot whales? Yes, we know you like to take some macro shots and do some muck diving, well, here is the biggest difference with Misool, we can regularly find critters and some dives are just perfect for that: pygmies (denise and bargibanti), nudies, devil scorpion fish, wonder puss, frog fish, leaf fish, ornate ghost pipe fish...

BANDA SEA - TRITON BAY

Day 1	AMBON The diving around the island is great, the wreck in the bay is full of life, pilot whales sometimes come close to the pier, but without a doubt Laha offers the best diving and is an unforgettable experience. Laha could be compared with Lembeh, it is pure muck at its best: mimics, flamboyant cuttlefish, rhinopias, ribbon eels, ambon scorpion fish, frog fish by the dozens, ghost pipe fish... you name it, it is all there, and Murphy is normally not around. Photographers... get ready!

Days 6-7	LUCIPARA In the middle of the Banda sea, here is where our vessel will compensates the open seas with one of her better qualities... stabilty! Sit back and relax in comfort as we sail the open seas to our next dive destination: Lucipara. Lucipara means wall diving, atolls surrounded by a stunning wall system. This remote archipelago is often visited by dolphins and pilot whales. The walls are in great state, good fans, nice schools of fusiliers, snappers, banners, but keep an eye in the blue: schools of rainbow runners, big tunas, both, yellow fin and dog tooth will be there!
Day 8	GUNUNG API Already a legend, what Cocos is for sharks and Sipadan for turtles, Gunung Api is for sea snakes! The snakes just swim across the reef in search of food, sometimes they will come curiously close to you, and you might find yourself among a dozen of them, enjoy it! This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You'll see olive green and banded sea crates, to be honest, not only the sneaks are worth diving for, the walls are amazing, the size of the barrel sponges enormous and great hammerheads have been spotted there.
Day 9	KOON On the way from the Bandas to Papua a stop in Koon is mandatory. The name of the dive site says it all: "Too many fishes". With the right current the diving could be unforgettable, millions of fish, schooling jacks, barracudas, sharks... but never too many... we always need more!

DERAWAN

	DERAWAN ARCHIPELAGO The north-east area of Kalimatan, is one of the remotest in Indonesia. Here we can find an archipelago the offers world class diving and among its islands three of them are truly spectacular: Maratua, Kakaban and Sangalaki. In its waters we can find from sharks to giant schools of Barracudas or Jacks, large concentration of Mantas and the biggest jelly fish lake in the world and turtles by the hundres. All of it surrounded by a paradisiacal landscape, away from the usual routes, rarely you meet other divers under the water.
	MARATUA Maratua gives us the chance to experience something almost impossible somewhere else in Indonesia, seeing scholling of thousand barracudas, jacks, a lot of pelagic action and a real possibility of encounters with leopard sharks, grey reefs, white tips and hammerheads, do not be surprise if a threasure shark cross your path. In the inside lagoon we have a great muck dive. Cat fish, frog fish, blue rig octopus, blue ribbon eels, robust and ornate goshts pipe fish, stone fish…among every possible critter might be waiting for us, absolutely a must night dive.
	SANGALAKI The bottom formation in Sangalaki is shallow and sandy with a lot of small formations of hard corals making it specially illuminated with natural light. One can hardly go beneath the 60 feet, but the diversity is amazing: from small gobies to white tips, from rare nudies to big cuttle fish, the orange elephant ear sponge formations, the gorgonians and the crinoids give colour to the bottom, but Sangalaki is in the top 3 destinations in the world to see Mantas. In the channels either feeding, clearing or just crossing there are mantas everywhere!!!
	KAKABAN The inside of Kakaban is almost entirely occupied by a big lake where fresh and SALT water mix. It is believed it has been isolated for over 10.000 years and therefore the species inside are very peculiar. In its murky mudy bottom we can find anemonies, gobies, nudies, snakes and sea cucumbers, but the most relevant characteristic of the lake is the 4 different species of jelly fish the can be found by the thousands. They have no predators and have lost their natural defences. The only one in Indonesia and very similar to the one in Palau. The outside reef is usually hit by the currents and big tunas, sharks and barracudas are patrolling.

GENERAL RULES DIVING

Obviously on all dive trips, safety is our main concern. The quality of diving is guaranteed. Indonesia has the best reef diving in the world and operating from a liveaboard will give you the chance to reach unbelievable sites, but something must be understood, being remote means potential risks.

The use of a computer, an octopus and a surface marker buoy are mandatory. If you do not have these, let us know in advance and we will prepare them for you.

We have few rental gear and some spares on board. We do strongly recommend that you have your gear checked before the trip.

The water temperature and visibility vary from area to area, but in general a 3mm wet suit will do everywhere except for Komodo, where a 5mm will be recommended.

We will check the dive conditions and make sure they are the best ones for each dive site; we will be flexible with the way you want to dive and try to adapt ourselves to your own preferences.

Our DM´s are well trained with years of experience in Indonesia and can spot and name anything that is down there for you. The crew will take care of the equipment and have been trained in first aid and in the handling of the gear, including your cameras.

The rest you know, a detailed dive briefing in English (maybe with a slight accent), get ready on the tender boats and... LET´S GET WET!!!
